Exploring Corporate Impact Program

THOMSON REUTERS Foundation (TRF), in partnership with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), is calling for applicants to “Exploring Corporate Impact Programme,” an intensive three-day workshop aimed at enabling them to better report by providing journalists with the information, tools and strategies to understand the complexities of sustainability.
TRF and GRI are seeking applications from journalists with a minimum of five years’ experience in print, broadcast or online. Editors and freelancers are also encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will be invited to the United Nations Global Compact-Global Reporting Initiative (UNGC-GRI) Sustainability Summit on August 20 and to a round table discussion with reporters on August 21.
The program is a unique opportunity to develop investigative and analytical skills by looking at sustainability in a corporate context and to gain a deeper understanding of why businesses should report on the sustainability of their strategies, operations and investments. The private sector plays a vital role in sustainable development and the media should explore the impact of business on environmental, social and governance issues.
TRF’s workshops seek to equip journalists with the necessary skills to identify stories about the environment, social development and governance; hold organizations to account; relay key developments to the public; and dig deeper into anything needing investigation. Applicants are asked to upload two work samples and a letter of consent from their editor on or before July 19. The application form can be accessed here.
