2016 UP Gawad Plaridel
The UP College of Mass Communication (UP CMC) is now accepting nominations for the 2016 UP Gawad Plaridel, which will be given to an outstanding media practitioner in radio.
Named after 19th century journalist Marcelo H. del Pilar whose nom de plume was Plaridel, the award recognizes practitioners in the various media—print, film, television, radio, trans-media and online– whose body of work is marked by relevance, social responsibility and excellence.
For this year’s awards, all living Filipinos who have excelled in the field of radio as producer, director, scriptwriter, announcer, voice actor, sound designer, sound technician, reporter, or commentator may be nominated by individuals or institutions. Current full-time faculty and staff of the UP CMC cannot be nominated.
The recipient of the award will be announced in April 2016, and during the awarding ceremonies in August will be given the UP Gawad Plaridel trophy designed by National Artist Napoleon Abueva. He or she will also deliver a lecture addressing media issues. The awardee will also have a place of honor in all ceremonies and functions of the College.
The deadline for submission of nominations is on March 1, at 5pm. For more information, visit the UP CMC Facebook page or call (02) 981-8500 loc. 2668.
