JEERS TO the Manila Bulletin for a report on a celebrity wedding masquerading as relevant news.

The June 28 report on the wedding of Elvis Gutierrez, the son of actors Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama, appeared on page 15 of the newspaper’s News section. (“Who’s who in Gutierrez wedding“)

It focused on the high-profile attendees of the wedding, including former President Jose Ejercito Estrada, Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, and other big names who, as the report said, “are either being whispered or confirmed to run for public office in next year’s elections.”

It also told the couple’s love story and the vows they shared.

The report, which should have been published in the entertainment section, lacked information that are of public interest and only played on the prominence of the report’s subject.
