Applications to the 10th ASEF Journalists’ Colloquium

The Asia-Europe Foundation is accepting applications to the 10th ASEF Journalists’ Colloquium on Crisis Reporting: The Role of Asian and European Media.

Twenty-five Asian and European practicing journalists will be selected to discuss their respective regional  views, approaches and tools in dealing with crisis reporting. Recommendations gathered from the colloquium will be published as the ASEF Media Handbook for journalists and research and civil society organizations.

The colloquium will be held from November 4 to 6 in Luxembourg. Travel subsidies and other conference related expenses will be shouldered by the ASEF.

Call for Papers: Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism

Journalism academics, professionals and students are invited to submit abstracts of papers for presentation at the conference “Negotiating Culture: integrating legacy and digital cultures in news media” organized by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford.

Abstracts should have 300 to 500 words outlining the topic, approach, and empirical basis of the paper. Topics include 1) value conflicts and creative tensions within digital newsrooms, 2) newsroom interactions with commercial and technology departments, 3) determining platform priorities for products and service, and 4) managing differing cultures in the organization.

Entries should be submitted to RISJ Director of Research Rasmus Kleis Nielsen at rasmus.nielsen @politics.ox.ac.uk on or before May 15. Selected abstracts will be presented on October 28-30 and will be considered for inclusion in a special issue of Digital Journalism.
