Solar’s news in Philippine languages

CHEERS TO Solar News Channel for its continuing effort to deliver relevant news in different Philippine languages in its two news programs.

Solar News Channel launched its second news program in a regional language, the Kapangpangan News, a 30 minute all-Kapangpangan news program, on August 4.  The news program followed the launch of Solar News Cebuano, a news program in the Cebuano language, on January 28 last year. Both news programs are the first of their kind to be aired on national free television.

Cebuano is the language most spoken in the Philippines and is largely spoken in regions 7, 9, 10, 11 and Caraga. The Solar News Cebuano caters to viewers from the Visayas and Mindanao as well as the huge percentage of Visayan and Mindanaoan migrants in Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, Kapangpangan, also one of the major languages in the Philippines, is primarily spoken in Pampanga, parts of Tarlac and some communities in Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and Zambales.

Solar News Cebuano and Kapangpangan News reports focus on, but are not limited to, the areas where these regional languages are predominantly spoken.  They also include national and international news.

Cebuano airs Mondays to Fridays 1:00 to 1:30 pm followed by Kapangpangan from 1:30 to 2:00 pm.
