Baldovino, 69
Photojournalist Richard “Dick” Baldovino died on Jan. 6. He was 69.
Baldovino, who suffered a massive stroke three years ago, died after going into coma.
A key figure in the development of photography in the Philippines, he was known as “The Dean of Philippine Photography.” Baldovino spent his four-decade career doing photojournalism, advertising photography, still film photography, and book photography.
He began as a freelance photographer in 1960 for the Manila Chronicle magazine. Three years later, he joined The Asia Magazine, a Hong Kong-based publication, for which he went on photographic assignments in Europe and Asia.
