RPN-ALIW Broadcasting Corporation tie-up

Radio Philippines Network and Aliw Broadcasting Corporation have entered into an agreement to widen each other’s reach.

In a report from Solar News website, RPN and Aliw agreed that the latter will provide content for RPN amplitude modulation (AM) stations for three years. Aliw’s DWIZ will now simulcast on RPN stations nationwide.

Interactive participation in both television and radio outlets from both parties, especially in Metro Manila, is also expected.

The agreement also states that both networks will share revenues generated from commercial spots.

Robert Rivera, RPN President and Chief Executive Officer, and Jesus Antonio Cabangon, Aliw President, signed the agreement 3 January 2014.

 

Special Reporting Initiatives (SRI) fellowship program for environmental reporting

Mongabay.org is accepting applicants for its Special Reporting Initiatives (SRI) fellowship program for environmental reporting.

Journalists covering environmental issues around the world may apply .

Applicants must submit a proposal on any of the following topics:

  • Community forestry as a climate change solution
  • Is there demand for sustainable fisheries’ products in China?
  • Cleaning up commodity supply chains

Selected fellows will receive a stipend of USD 15,000 and up to USD 5,000 for research and travel costs. The proposal should be completed after 6 months.

Interested applicants must submit their SRI Proposal together with a resume, two letters of recommendation, three samples of previous published works, and a sample pitch to media outlets.

Deadline for applications is January 31.

Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellowship

The Knight-Wallace Journalism Fellowship is accepting applications.

Print, broadcast and online journalist with at least five years of professional experience in the field are eligible to apply.

The journalism fellowship program hosted by the University of Michigan aims to bring journalists from the United States and other countries together on an academic study for one year. A total of 12 US journalists and six journalists from abroad will be chosen for the fellowship.

Fellows will have the chance to devise a personalized study plan and access to the courses and resources at the University of Michigan. Each will receive a stipend of USD 70,000. The program also covers the tuition and the travel cost of the fellows.
