About this page

CMFR initiated its Press Freedom Protection program in the early nineties with a monitor of cases of journalists killed and developed an analytical framework of the cases that has directed campaigns and advocacy efforts, including journalist protection and safety, and the ongoing campaign to end impunity.

CMFR has kept a database of journalists killed in the line of duty since 1986. This interactive map contains information on the number of journalists killed in areas in the Philippines, the profiles of the journalists killed, the demographics and related information, including the status of cases in the courts.

This section of the CMFR website was made possible with support provided by the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA).
